From the words of a coroner after examining the body of Jennifer Daugherty, he described it as ‘’one of the most horrific cases I have seen’’. 30-year-old Jennifer Daugherty was a mentally challenged woman living in Greensburg, Pennsylvania. Having the mental capacity of a young teen, she was a friendly woman who easily trusted everyone. In February 2010, Jennifer was kidnapped by six individuals, whom she believed were her ‘’friends’’, and taken to an apartment where the the torture began. Over the course of two days, her attackers tied her up, forced her to consume urine, feces, and laundry detergent, They beat her with a towel rack, crutch, and vacuum cleaner hose. They also shaved her head, painted her face with nail polish, and forced her to write a suicide note before the poor woman was brutally stabbed to death. Her captives later wrapped her body up in Christmas decorations, put her in a garbage can, and dumped her in a middle school parking lot. The perpetrators, known as the ‘’Greensburg Six’’, were tracked down the next day. 17-year-old Angela Marinucci, one of the females involved in the murder, allegedly wanted to kill Jennifer because her boyfriend, Ricky Smyrnes, was spending too much time with her. Angela was sentenced to life without possibility of parole, and Ricky was given the death penalty. The remaining four were also incarcerated as well.
